The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) is an international mutual benefit nonprofit organization of manufacturers, system integrators, developers, vendors, industry professionals, and end users. The FCIA is committed to delivering Fibre Channel infrastructure technology to support a wide array of mass storage and IT-based applications.
FCIA working groups and committees focus on specific aspects of the technology, targeting both vertical and horizontal markets, including data storage, video, networking, and storage area network (SAN) management.
NetApp is a Principal Member of the FCIA, where NetApp representatives are active in the FCIA Marketing Committee and the FCIA-SNIA Alliance Working Group.
NetApp has also been an active participant in the development and marketing of the Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) standard, which is supported by the FCIA. The FCoE standard protocol enables the I/O consolidation of Fibre Channel and Ethernet traffic onto a common Ethernet fabric.
