[1] The DS4246 disk shelf currently only supports “Mixed Shelf” configurations combining 100GB SSDs with 1TB or 3TB high-capacity disk drives. In the future, the DS4246 will also support homogenous configurations of high-capacity (1TB, 2TB, or 3TB) disk drives. Performance hard disk drives of 15K RPM, existing encryption hard disk drives, and homogenous configurations of 100G SSDs are not supported.

[2] Self-encrypting drives (SEDs) cannot be mixed with non-encrypting HDDs in the same storage system. SnapLock, MetroCluster, and C-mode of Data ONTAP 8 are not supported with SEDs.
