We believe NetApp is uniquely and extremely fortunate to have a community of customers who share their enthusiasm for our company and technology. In all, we received more than 200 submissions for our award categories from executive and IT champions from such wide-ranging industries as healthcare, financial services, entertainment, energy, and education, each highlighting new and/or beneficial ways to utilize NetApp technology. Our prestigious panel of judges from the business community and the world's top business and technology media were challenged to determine the finalists and winners.

Below are the 2009 winners and finalists in each of the seven categories: Innovator of the Year – Americas, Innovator of the Year – APAC, Innovator of the Year – EMEA, Enterprise, Green, Public Sector, and Individual.

Weta Digital
Weta Digital is a leading visual effects company based in Wellington, New Zealand and is a world-leader in all areas of visual effects production, including animation, motion capture, crowd generation, modelling, compositing, and film scanning and recording. Weta was formed in 1993 by a group of young New Zealand filmmakers including Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor and Jamie Selkirk. It later split into two specialised halves - Weta Digital (visual effects) and Weta Workshop (physical effects). Most recently Weta Digital has completed work on James Cameron’s Avatar. This involved using a new camera system and shooting on a virtual stage. New technologies were developed for supporting software and a new production pipeline in order to reach a new level of creative and technological excellence, delivering the film in 3D. Weta Digital has won five visual effects Oscars® and five visual effects BAFTAS. Our reputation for creativity and delivery keeps us in high demand with some of the world’s leading film studios.
