The Internet Engineering Task Force
(IETF) is a large open
international community of network designers, operators, vendors,
and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet
architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. It is open
to any interested individual. The IETF Mission Statement is
documented in RFC 3935.
NetApp Participation
NetApp has extensive participation in the IETF, particularly with
regard to NFSv4. More specifically NetApp representatives
participate as:
- Co-chair the NFSv4 working
group
- Co-author of the NFSv4 specification
- Document editors for the NFSv4.1 specification
- Spec writers for NFSv4.1 (including pNFS)
- Driver of Simple Public Key Mechanism (SPKM) initiative
- Contributor to Remote Direct Data Placement specification
- Document editor and contributor to IPS (iSCSI)
