AUSTRALIA, Sydney - 27 March 2007 -
Decru®, a NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) company, today announced that
its storage security solutions have been ranked number one in a
poll of Fortune 1000 firms conducted by research firm TheInfoPro
(TIP). The TIP Information Security Wave 8 Study, released in
February 2007, incorporates in-depth interviews of approximately
150 Fortune 1000 and 60 midsize enterprise decision-makers.
According to TIP, respondents cited NetApp, incorporating Decru
solutions, as the number one storage security vendor "in use" and
"in plan" for purchase.*
Other TIP survey findings include the following:
- The NetApp combined "in use" and "in plan" rating was more than
three times higher than the nearest direct competitor solution for
storage security. The storage security category includes technology
elements such as access controls, file, block and tape encryption,
auditing and permanent data deletion.
- Enterprise customers ranked access controls and encryption in
their top five security projects for the next 12 months.
- In the data encryption category, NetApp/Decru security
solutions ranked among the top five "in use" and "in plan" vendor
offerings.
Bill Trussell, managing director of information security for
TheInfoPro, said, "Storage security has emerged as an important
category for TheInfoPro's TIPNetwork of Fortune 1000 users, and end
users are getting savvier about requirements such as
enterprise-wide interoperability, access controls and key
management. The results of Information Security Wave 8 show Decru
solutions in a clear market leadership position for enterprise
storage security."
In recent years, enterprise and government customers have come
under tremendous regulatory and business pressure to secure
confidential customer data and intellectual property. This task has
been complicated by the nature of the enterprise data
infrastructure, which incorporates a wide variety of applications,
operating systems, networks, and storage vendors.
Decru is the first and only vendor to offer a full range of storage
security appliances, enabling a unified security approach across
legacy and new storage systems including NAS, DAS, IP SAN, Fibre
Channel SAN, and tape backup environments. Decru solutions,
including Decru DataFort® security appliances and the Decru
Lifetime Key Management™ system, automate and simplify
storage security for heterogeneous enterprise environments. The
Decru platform combines encryption, authentication, access
controls, auditing, and policy management to provide
enterprise-wide security for data at rest.
"A lot of vendors are offering new encryption features, and that's
good, but enterprise customers are increasingly looking to the
experts to get storage security right," said Kevin Brown, vice
president of marketing at Decru, a NetApp Company. "We're pleased
that TheInfoPro's research findings match our own experience in the
market. We feel that the unique advantages of Decru - strong
financial backing, broad product portfolio, and support for
multivendor environments - provide customers the best solutions to
meet their long-term storage security needs from a proven storage
security leader."
