NetApp and Dimension Data Deliver Unprecedented Efficiencies, Performance and Economic Development to Victoria

Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - 14 July 2010 - Following a comprehensive evaluation and selection process, NetApp with Dimension Data have won the tender to provide advanced storage, back-up and recovery services for CenITex.

The new contract means NetApp and Dimension Data will assist in delivering secure, private cloud computing services to an extensive government customer base, with the first customer going live in August. They will do this via new ICT shared services agency, CenITex, set up as a State body by the Victorian Government to centralise ICT support to government departments and agencies.

The economic development associated with this contract is an exciting by-product of the announcement. This contract will create in excess of 100 new fulltime roles in metro and regional Victoria over the coming years, through NetApp and its partner ecosystem.

NetApp and Dimension Data will assist CenITex to deliver significant efficiencies against the current government environments.

Central to the offering is the highly efficient NetApp dynamic data centre solution that provides storage and virtualization services to CenITex's customers. It will deliver high level operating efficiencies to CenITex customers in a flexible, rapidly recoverable and highly agile environment.

NetApp's Global Centre for Virtualization Excellence established in Melbourne (the only one of its kind in the world) is a key enabler for the project.

Peter O'Connor, Vice President for NetApp Australia and New Zealand, said, "We are very pleased to be working with the Victorian Government, CenITex and Dimension Data on this project. It means we can help to build Victoria's home-grown talent, whilst helping to put the Government on the world stage for ICT excellence and intellectual incubation. NetApp's Global Centre for Virtualization Excellence in Melbourne is a key enabler for the project. It is the only centre of its kind in the world and helps to develop technologies and talent that will help take our customers forward into the next generation of technology efficiency and business breakthroughs."

Steve Nola, Australian CEO, Dimension Data, said, "This is one of the largest cloud-based storage deals in Australia to date and Dimension Data is delighted to be part of it and to have the opportunity to continue our long standing relationship with the Victorian Government. Our field force will work closely with CenITex and its customers, delivering support and professional services, including training and certification."
