NetApp Named a Member of the 2009 Uptime Institute Global Green 100 List
SYDNEY, Australia, 11 May,
2009 - NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) announced today that it has
been named to the Global Green 100 List for 2009 by the Uptime
Institute, a leading research-based think-tank and corporate
advisory on the business and technology issues related to critical
computing environment reliability and energy efficiency. The Global
Green 100 List's purpose is to identify and provide global
recognition for those companies that demonstrate an integral
commitment to and progress toward reducing their energy consumption
and carbon footprint.
The list of 100 includes exemplary
FORTUNE 500 and InformationWeek 500 organisations
with a demonstrated board-level policy and governance commitment to
increasing energy efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint of
their enterprise IT and data centre operations. These corporations
have the largest investment in enterprise IT and have taken a
highly visible leadership role in mandating dramatic improvements
in energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction. The official
naming of the Global Green 100 was made during the April 15 Green
Enterprise IT Awards ceremony.
"NetApp strives to help our customers
maximise their storage efficiency and drive down energy
consumption, and we lead by example," said Laura Pickering, vice
president, office of the CEO and environmental responsibility
advocate for NetApp. "We are honoured to be a part of the Global
Green 100 and proud to stand with so many other global
