SYDNEY, Australia - 19 March
2009-NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that Gartner,
Inc., positioned the company in the Leaders quadrant for Midrange
and High-End NAS Solutions. In a recently released research note,
"Magic Quadrant for Midrange and High-End NAS
Solutions,"1 Gartner asserts, "Vendors in the Leaders
quadrant have the highest scores for their ability to execute and
completeness of vision. A midrange and high-end NAS vendor in the
Leaders quadrant has the market share, credibility, and marketing
and sales capabilities needed to drive the acceptance of new
technologies. It demonstrates understanding of market needs, is an
innovator and thought leader, and has well-articulated plans that
customers and prospects can use when designing their storage
infrastructures and strategies."
"We consider our positioning in the Leaders
quadrant by Gartner confirmation of the outstanding customer
experience delivered by our NAS solutions," said Manish Goel,
senior vice president, Product Operations at NetApp. "We feel this
positioning also validates the company's commitment to the NAS
market and our focus on helping customers simplify their data
infrastructure and improve storage efficiency."
With NetApp® NAS solutions, customer
companies of all sizes can benefit by gaining powerful, flexible
features and capabilities that optimise the storage efficiency of
data centres. NetApp NAS systems simultaneously offer native
support for file serving and sharing over NFS and CIFS, which
enables customers to seamlessly consolidate multiple file servers
for UNIX® and Windows® environments and different
workloads on a single NAS platform. These systems can also
simultaneously support SAN capabilities, allowing customers to go
beyond consolidating their storage onto a single platform, and
provide them with the scalability, flexibility, and performance
they need to go further, faster.
