NetApp Data Encryption Ahead of the Pack with Common Criteria EAL 4+ Certification
SYDNEY, Australia - 12 March
2009 - NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that its
storage security platform, NetApp® DataFort, and its key
management solution, Lifetime Key Management™ (LKM), achieved
the International Standard Organisation's Common Criteria (CC) EAL
4+ certification. With this certification, NetApp's storage
security solutions now provide customers with the highest level of
data encryption certification from any storage vendor.
Specifically, NetApp received independent CC
EAL 4+ certifications for its NetApp DataFort FC 520v2 series
platform and for its LKM release 2.5.1, making DataFort the only
solution in its product category to carry this certification.
In addition to CC EAL 4+ certification, the
NetApp DataFort platform is also FIPS 140-2 level 3 certified,
providing strong 256 AES bit encryption keys. With NetApp DataFort,
customers can easily apply this industry-leading level of
encryption to heterogeneous storage environments supporting tape or
disk from multiple vendors. This strong and simple encryption
protects data for its entire lifecycle, regardless of length, using
customisable encryption policies.
"The Common Criteria EAL 4+ certification
singles out NetApp as the leader in data security," said Tim
Russell, vice president and general manager of Archiving,
Compliance, and Security Solutions at NetApp. "Having the strongest
encryption in the industry validates our approach and makes NetApp
the best investment for data security."
