Vads to Offer Enhanced Cloud Solutions through Netapp’s Service Provider Partner Programme

VADS Berhad (VADS), Malaysia’s leading managed Information Communication & Technology (ICT)/Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) service provider, today signed a service provider partner agreement with leading multinational computer storage and data management entity, NetApp, making VADS NetApp’s Service Provider Platinum Partner.

Ahmad Azhar Yahya, Chief Executive Officer, VADS signed the agreement on behalf of VADS while NetApp was represented by Scott Morris, Vice President and General Manager, NetApp ASEAN.

As NetApp’s Service Provider Platinum Partner, VADS can now leverage the former’s cloud storage services to further enhance its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform offerings while providing better value to its Cloud customers. Apart from adding value to existing offerings and allowing market expansion, the collaboration will also enable both parties to work together as strategic partners especially in Cloud marketing initiatives while providing Cloud solutions to Enterprises.

Commenting on the newly inked partnership, Ahmad Azhar shared, “Both parties recognise that in order for us to remain competitive in the market, we must add more value to our respective cloud offerings. Naturally, with NetApp as VADS’ mainstay vendor for cloud solutions and also our history of collaborations in providing cloud solutions, we have mutually decided to enter into a solid partnership framework. VADS is now able to leverage NetApp’s development platform for private cloud projects while NetApp will have the opportunity to further expand their foothold in the Malaysian market.”

Echoing Ahmad Azhar’s enthusiasm, Morris said that NetApp is happy to welcome VADS into the company’s growing Service Provider Platinum Partner Program in the region.

“We congratulate VADS for achieving the Service Provider Platinum Partner status in Malaysia. It is a testament of VADS’ commitment to deliver the best storage and cloud solutions, and technical expertise for customers. We look forward to forging a closer partnership that will look to deliver more value to customers, especially in the area of cloud services. NetApp believes that VADS will not only grow and sustain its business from this partnership, but also benefit through greater financial investment and supplementary services from NetApp,” said Morris.

The 2013 Global Cloud Computing Scoreboard study by the Business Software Alliance showed that Malaysia, while ranked 13th out of 24 economies worldwide, has crossed the divide between mature and developing economies and is ready for the cloud.

In today’s environment, the scale, complexity and pace in which businesses are operating require a new way of thinking to enable them to compete. Businesses need to deliver impact faster, operate without disruption and grow without limits – all of which are critical in today’s climate. Together with partners, NetApp delivers a single integrated platform for an agile data infrastructure that meets all three key focus points.

Thus, following the formalisation of the NetApp service provider partnership framework, VADS hopes to be able to create new Cloud offerings for the market such as Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS), Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) and Online Enterprise Storage.
