NetApp's customers and partners helped place
the company as the number one storage vendor in the Open Networked
Storage category in Singapore in Q4 2009, in terms of data capacity
shipped. According to IDC's Asia/Pacific Quarterly Disk Storage
Systems Tracker for Q4 2009, released in March 2010, NetApp's 32.7
percent data capacity share of the Open Networked
Storage1 market in Singapore in Q4 2009 exceeded that of
its closest competitor by more than 10 percentage points.
IDC's tracker, showed that for the full year
2009, NetApp's share in the Open Networked Storage segment in
Singapore rose 7.2 percentage points to 23.7 percent, propelling
the company to second place, just 3.6 percentage points behind the
market leader.
In terms of factory revenue metric, NetApp
moved two rungs up to third place in Singapore, with 13.3 percent
market share for the full CY2009.
Commenting on the notable performance, Loh
Ching Soo, Country Manager, NetApp Singapore said, "Over the last
quarter, NetApp saw the implementation of a significant number of
IT projects by companies eager to realize the benefits of
virtualization and improved storage efficiency. In Singapore, where
customers are placing increased trust in us, our priorities will be
to encourage them to utilize the full range of built-in efficiency
features they can enjoy with their NetApp implementation - such as
deduplication and thin provisioning. Based on the feedback from our
customers, we will also be stepping up our offerings for backup
solutions, to help companies strengthen their business continuity
